The cuisines of Asia are very different, but sometimes they come together. Here are three restaurants that cross borders and create their own.
Toku Modern Asia, in the Americana shopping center in Manhasset, unites Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and some New American influences under its marquee. Recommended: pork buns, teriyaki sliders, prawns Sichuan, braised short rib with pad Thai noodles, kung pao chicken, ramen with chicken or pork, sushi, sashimi.
Fancy Lee in Babylon is all over the map. Recommended: beef satay, chicken lettuce wraps, Indian pancakes, duck rolls, crisp Grand Marnier prawns, orange chicken, tuna tataki, salmon carpaccio, shrimp with lobster sauce, spicy mango salad, sushi and sashimi.
Asian Fusion in Glen Cove answers the question "What's in a name?" Sometimes, everything. Recommended: tom yum goong, lemongrass broth with shrimp; chicken satay; pork dumplings; pan-fried oysters; salmon-skin salad; salmon teriyaki; tempura with soba noodles; General Tso's chicken; curries, red and green, penang and massaman; sushi.
